The Dance of The Snowflake

So... in English class, each day we have a daily 'journal prompt' on the board. Some people write their journals replying to the prompt. Some people use it to spark their own, similar ideas, and some people write about totally different things that are unrelated in any way.
Today's prompt was to describe the first snowfall of the season.
No, I didn't do it. Instead, I wrote a poem that I want to share with you now. I'm only doing this after much pleading from my friends to share it. And no, I'm not going to submit this to our literary magazine. It's not that good, I wrote it in 15 minutes.

Procrastination

Procrastination.

What is it?
It is putting something off by doing something else.
How do you do it?
Just do something while you are supposed to be doing something else.
Is procrastination good, or bad?
It is bad-ish. It is easy to do, and makes you feel good, but leads to extra stress in the long run.
Is this blog post procrastination?
You bet it is!

I know, this post seems random...

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought—
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! and through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

"And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!"
He chortled in his joy.

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Through the Lenses of Life: A poem(and semi dresses too!)

I like wearing my glasses- sometimes.
They catch tiny rays of light and proudly display their find on my lenses, hiding my red eyes.
Their thick black frames, being artistic, take focus away from the bags under my eyes that are only revealing my lack of sleep the night before.
Some may say I hide behind my glasses.
I say I'm utilizing them to an advantage not originally meant as well as their true purpose.
But sometimes, they only show my flaws more than before
So that's why I wear contacts. ;)

Judgmental much?

Two Sides to Every Story?
No, please don't comment
And tell me how strange I am
No, I don't want to hear
How weird my choice of music is
No, I try not to care
That you think I have a bad-if any- fashion sense
No, don't laugh
At the history of stupid mistakes I mistakenly make
No, don't make me cry
And tell me nobody will ever love me
No, please don't point
At my running mascara and reddened eyes
No, please, just go
Please, just leave me alone.

Impressions of a Teenage Girl: Issue 2

Tough Decisions("Aagh, what do I pick?!")

Over the past few weeks, I've had to make some really hard choices. Like today, for example. I'm missing a super big swim meet because I'm sick. Life sucks, because the event I was most excited for was today.
I had to send a friend home 20 minutes after she got to my house. Why? Because I threw up. While she was at my house. FML.
And, this whole swim meet? Tomorrow I'm swimming instead of going to a big church service that I helped plan.
I hate making decisions. Who doesn't?

Yea, I realize this is more of a rant, but whatevs...

That Made My Day!

That Made My Day!
I have seen and heard quotes throughout the school day that are absolutely perfect. Some are traditional quotes and some are things that people said, but they made me smile. So here are 10 of them, I will post more eventually. They are in no particular order.
1: I hate science. Gravity's a downer, and friction drags.
2: Each day, I find it fun to do the impossible.
3: Whoever says 'nothing's impossible' obviously never tried slamming a revolving door.
4: Defy Gravity Daily
5: Teacher: "This liquid is toxic-"
Girl: "Who wants to drink it for 5 bucks?!"
6: "Poof! You're a dog!" "Really? Well poof, you're a bunny." "Girls, stop arguing, because- Poof! You're both single! Oh wait..."
7: Oh crackers, I forgot my permission slip!
8: "I got all of the books!" "Um, hey, nobody got mine..." "Um..."
9: The funny thing about luck: The harder you work, the more of it you have.
10: Um... I forget.

Number ten? I heard it 5 times in one class. Hehe...
Thanks for reading!

One by One

I know, I know, I haven't posted in forever!
New years resolution: Post at least once a week.

Anyways, I thought I'd start off with a poem today.

One by one, the world is changing
Making a brighter place
The villain lurks in the corner
He knows how to escape
One by one the world grows stronger
As faster down the world falls
So I guess in the end
We'll still live
Happily never after, after all
In our fairly fair fairy tale world

I bet you're wondering how this poem came to my head. Well, I was thinking about all the problems of the world for a short story I was trying to write(I never wrote it, ok?). I started wondering what it would be like to live in a 'fairytale world', like in the stories. Then I realized something: All fairytales have villains that usually cause lasting damage to everyone. Have you ever read some Grimm fairytales?? Talk about dark. So I wrote this. It isn't my best work, but it's a good kickoff for the new year.

One by One, we can fix the world, even if it isn't fairy tale material yet.
